The return of the Yorkshire Balloon Fiesta is not long and the full program has been announced.
The fun family weekend will see over 50 hot air balloons, music stars and TV hosts on the Knavesmire on From Friday 23 to Sunday 25 September.
It has been revealed by organizers that this will be the last year of the festival in York, due to a new race day being assigned which falls on the same weekend as the event.
The new venue for 2023 has yet to be announced.
The event will kick off with YorkMix Radio – the official partners of Yorkshire Balloon Fiesta – taking the stage at 3.30pm on Friday, with a spectacular mass balloon launch from 4.45pm (weather permitting).
The iconic balloon night glow will also take place on Friday evening at 8:50 p.m. Subsequent mass balloon launches are scheduled each morning and evening over the weekend.
As well as the balloons, there’s a star-studded lineup of musical performances – with Scouting for Girls and Craig Charles appearing on Friday nights.
York’s Huge Party Band will entertain the crowds at 1 p.m. on Saturday, and Gabrielle, Heather Small and Boyzlife are set to take the stage on Saturday night.
Sunday promises another musical feast with the Howard Donald DJ Set and Symphonic Ibiza, before the spectacular final fireworks display at 8.10pm – which is the biggest show in town.
The three-day lineup will also include acts suited to the younger crowd, including Brainiac Live, Andy & the Odd Socks and CBBC star YolanDa with her Big Jam Show.
In addition to the balloons, there will be plenty of family entertainment such as exciting exhibits, the UK’s largest transportable roller coaster, a daredevil stunt show, the world’s largest obstacle course and more.
Balloon Fiesta organizer John Lowery said: “As this year’s Yorkshire Balloon Fiesta will be the last in York, we are delighted to be bringing some exciting new additions to the Knavesmire, making it the best year ever to this day !
Purchasing tickets in advance is recommended, as only limited numbers should be available on the day.
£1 from each ticket is split between three local charities: Yorkshire Air Ambulance, St Leonards Hospice and York Rescue Boat.
