The Telford Balloon Fiesta returns to the QEII Arena in Telford Town Park with a weekend of live music, entertainment and balloon launches.

The event will also see the return of the popular ‘night glow’ where the balloons put on a spectacular illuminated show on Saturday evenings from 9.15pm to 10pm.

Balloon launches are scheduled for 6am and 6pm on Saturday and Sunday – although all launches are weather dependent.

Friday will see the event open with a series of musical performances.

The venue will be open from 4.30pm, with Dirty Rockin Scoundrels from 5.15-6pm, followed by Gineva from 6.15-7.15pm, before Focus closes the evening from 8-9pm.

Dutch progressive rock band Focus are currently touring Europe.

With just a week to go before the Telford Balloon Fiesta opens at the QE11 Arena in Telford Town Park, Telford & Wrekin Council are delighted to announce the weekend’s highlight events.

Saturday includes performances by the Imps Motorcycle Display team from 12:15-12:45 and 3:45-4:10.

Saturday’s lineup also includes more live music, this time from the Shropshire Music Awards, with The Original Wanted and Ruby Allen starting at 2 p.m., then Trademark Blud and Papermoon after the second motorbike performance.

Rick Cosco Plays Jazz will then perform from 6-6:30 p.m., with LED performers scheduled from 8-9 p.m., after the balloon launch depending on the weather.

Sunday programming includes the Circus Sensible Show from noon to 12:30 p.m., a carnival parade from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m., dance routines in small groups from 1:30 p.m., a second Circus Sensible Show at 2:30 p.m. dance and community between 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Cllr Carolyn Healy, Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Cultural Services, encouraged people to attend and enjoy the event.

She said: “With over 25 balloons on hand for the weekend, we are looking forward to this Balloon Fiesta being the biggest and best yet.

“There will be lots of fun family activities, live music and dancing and we are looking forward to an absolutely fantastic weekend.

“This is a high point in Telford & Wrekin Council’s calendar of events as we know it attracts regional visitors as well as thousands of our borough residents.

“The investment ‘from your side’ of the council includes a £750,000 commitment to our events program to ensure we continue to provide a range of activities for residents and attract visitors to the area.”
