Seven Unveils New Balloon Art Contest Airing in 2023

A new balloon art reality series is coming to Seven and 7plus in 2023.

Filming due to begin in Melbourne next month, Explode will see artists compete to create the best balloon creations.

Hosted by an acclaimed actor Stephen Curry and actor Becky Lucas, alongside the resident balloon expert Chris Adamo and a host of celebrity guest judges, Explode will see the nation’s top balloon artists, decorators and tornadoes compete through a variety of challenges to turn ordinary balloons into works of art.

director of content for Seven, entertainment programming, Angus Ross, said: “Explode is a breath of fresh air for Australian television. It has the wow factor, heart and humor that we know will captivate families across the country as they discover the amazing world of balloon art.

CEO of Endemol Shine Australia, Peter Newman, said: “Explode will take Australian families to a shiny new world brimming with joy, fun and oversized balloon sculptures that have to be seen to be believed.

Stephen Curry said: “Explode is a celebration of art, skill, design and unbridled imagination. I’m so excited to embark on this crazy adventure with Becky and these exceptionally talented artists, which is sure to remind me once again of my obvious lack of discernible skills.

“Rest assured, these are not balloon animals and pirate swords; this is a high quality large scale balloon sculpture. These artists are the thoroughbreds of inflatable art .

Becky Lucas said, “There is something very exciting about being involved in showcasing the talents of these balloon artists. I look forward to showcasing the incredibly talented people who dedicate their lives to a fairly unknown art form just for the fun of it. It’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen.

Who has what it takes to claim the title of Australia’s Greatest Balloon Artist and who is just full of hot air?

Explode will premiere in 2023 on Seven.
