Auburn’s Nel Morin pulls a container of Boom Boom sauce out of a box Thursday at Simard-Payne Memorial Park in Lewiston. He helps run the New England Showman’s Scholarship Fund food stand during the Great Falls Balloon Festival. Morin said that even though blooming onions are listed on the menu, it’s the Boom Boom sauce that people will be waiting for in a 10-minute queue. “When we run out of Boom Boom Sauce, people get angry,” he said.
