The Model F folding electric bike, produced by California-based Electric Bike Company of Newport Beach, has just gone on sale. It has many of the same aesthetic and cruiser design principles as the company’s larger e-bikes, but is considerably more compact and portable. The Model F is manufactured locally in Southern California, just like the rest of the company’s e-bikes, before being shipped to consumers fully assembled.
The F model has a low frame and 24-inch wheels, which are a compromise between the typical 20-inch wheels seen on most folding e-bikes and the larger 26-inch cruiser wheels. The 3-inch-wide tires are also a middle ground between wider street tires and plusher fat tires, looking more like balloon tires than true fat tires. The bike is slightly more portable when folded thanks to the reduced diameter tires, which are still sized enough to provide a more conventional cruiser-like riding experience.
The F-Model’s hydroformed aluminum frame uses an integrated downtube-mounted battery and front suspension fork. The battery can either be unlocked to be removed and charged independently, or fixed in place to be charged on the bike. When using pedal assist, the company says battery range can be up to 50 miles. While not getting the same 50-mile range, riders who use the throttle to go faster without pedaling should still achieve at least 25 miles of pure throttle mileage.
Riders can expect plenty of power and speed at their disposal with a 750W motor and a top speed of 25mph. They also have two comfortable brake levers nearby, which are connected to hydraulic disc brakes for high braking force. The single-speed pedal drivetrain uses a huge 58T chainring to regain speed, ensuring you can pedal even at high speeds.
The new folding bike features vegan leather grips, a wide, comfortable saddle that embodies the vibes of Electric Bike Company’s cruiser bike, color LCD display, front and rear LED lighting. the rear of the bike, weatherproof material and an adjustable stem. which allows cyclists to adapt the ergonomics of the bike according to their preferences. There are three colors available for the $1,799 bike: white, red and black.
