Funding helps add an extra night to the Canowindra International Balloon Challenge | West Central Daily

news, local news,

An extra night has been added to this year’s Canowindra International Balloon Challenge. Deputy First Minister and Regional NSW Minister Paul Toole said the Canowindra International Balloon Challenge is building on the success of its 2021 event to host an expanded festival from April 2 to April 10, 2022. “It’s an event like no other, with mass balloon launches to entertain crowds throughout the day and the Cabonne Community Balloon Glow event, with market stalls, live music and a special choreographed balloon show” Mr Toole said. “Supporting big-money events like this in the NSW region is what gets our economy going and back into high gear, and I can’t wait to see the benefits that this festival will benefit communities not just in the Midwest, but across the region.” Mr. Toole said the economic benefits of the Canowindra International Balloon Challenge cannot be underestimated. “In 2021, this festival attracted nearly 8,000 people , which is a major feat for a small town of 2,000 people. Hosting events like this encourages visitors to stay and spend in local shops, bars and restaurants,” the Deputy Prime Minister added. Canowindra International Balloon Challenge Chairman Andrew Pull said the funding will allow the festival to continue to welcome thousands of attendees and encourage visitors to stay an extra night by helping to expand the event’s schedule.” Funding from the Regional Events Acceleration Fund helped us secure a evening of additional entertainment, with multi-artist programming including one track,” Mr. Pull said. Funding for the additional entertainment comes from the $40 million Regional Events Accelerator Fund, part of the Regional Growth Fund. of $2 billion, designed to support the growth of regional centers, activate local economies and improve services and community infrastructure for regional communities.
