All Ages After Hours Event Continues at Balloon Museum – City of Albuquerque

February 13, 2022 – The Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum recently launched its new monthly evening event, STEAM Nights at the Balloon Museum with the theme Bubbles and Bubbly. This month, STEAM Nights returns with more hands-on science, technology, engineering, art and math experiences for visitors of all ages.

STEAM Nights at the Balloon Museum takes place on Saturday, February 19 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. with a celebration of Elevation Station, the museum’s new hands-on, hands-on exhibit for young and old. Designed by a team of experts from Explora and Electric Playhouse, with help from Caryn Welz and hot air ballooning legends father-daughter team Troy and Savannah Bradley, this exhibit incorporates an interactive game with mapping by projection, touch tables, immersive experiences and hands-on exploration. .

“We are thrilled to be hosting this STEAM night with some of our favorite partners – Explora and Electric Playhouse,” said museum director Nan Masland. “You won’t want to miss the interactive activities and performances!”

During this after-hours event, the Balloon Museum, along with partners Explora and Electric Playhouse, will celebrate the new exhibit by hosting engaging experiences throughout the museum for visitors of all ages. Downstairs, visitors can visit the Elevation Station exhibit; watch one of Explora’s two Air Under Pressure science demonstrations; try hands-on activities where they can study math behind a hot air balloon design with mirrors and colors; design a paper balloon; or discover the power of air with the wind tunnels. Upstairs, visitors can listen to music from a local DJ, take a selfie in a real hot air balloon basket, and try an interactive projection game with Electric Playhouse. Visit the museum lawn to see the radio-controlled hot air balloon light up the night or grab a bite to eat at a local food truck.

Tickets will be sold at the door, but places are limited. Pre-purchase your tickets at cabq.gov/balloon/events. Admission to the event is $6 for adults ($5 with New Mexico ID), $4 for seniors 65 and older, $3 for youth 6-17 years old and free for children 5 and under.
